Art & Economics - A win-win at the Stockholm School of Economics
Art and economics – a win-win at Stockholm School of Economics Researchers and students from the Stockholm School of Economics talk about how the humanities are being increasingly integrated in education and research. When a leading school of economics decides to put more emphasis on art and culture the hope is to make the leaders of tomorrow lead the way in raising the interest in art within the business world. Cecilia Hillström, gallerist and an alumnus of the Stockholm School of Economics, will talk about the art industry and the role of the gallerist in relation to the other actors on the art market. Erik Wikberg, due to present his dissertation in Business after the summer - a thesis on the organization of the art and culture scene - will talk about the institutional changes in the art world and how the industry’s different actors relate to the current alterations. Erik is a part of the Stockholm School of Economics’ research center for Arts, Business and Culture (ABC) and will also talk about how the school’s researchers, in order to develop the field of business research, are increasingly focusing on areas involved in the production of culture. Isak Nilsson, representing the student initiative Art Division, will talk about the exciting project that has mobilized the whole school. The association is now arranging openings, video art programs, art talks and is also taking on external projects – an interdisciplinary project that has received recognition in the world of higher level education, and is also gaining international attention. Art Division collaborates with institutions such as Moderna Museet, KTH School of Architecture, The Royal Institute of Art and Bukowskis. Mingle with wine! PLEASE NOTE: The seminar will be held in Swedish.
