Excel Workshop for Master Students

The ITU is proud to announce the first Excel workshop for master students. It takes place on April 11 from 18.15 until 20.00 in the PC Labs (afterwards there is the possibility for a Q&A session). The workshop is not an introductory workshop but requires some previous knowledge. You should have basic Excel skills and you should be familiar with the use of standard formulas and charts. Pivot tables should not be new to you.

We will cover the following things:

  • A quick refresher for IF, AND, OR, COUNT, INDEX etc. functions.
  • While V- and HLOOKUPS are nice the real power comes with a combination of OFFSET, MATCH, and INDEX – we will look at different cases and how to use them correctly.
  • Pivot tables are also very useful but array formulas can do much more.

Depending on the time available and the interest of the participants we can also look in the following topics:

  • User-defined calculations in Pivot tables.
  • The use of named ranges, data validation and user controls to build end user models.

The workshop will be interactive which means you have the possibility to directly apply your knowledge and test the new concepts.

Please do not bring your own laptop as we will use the PCs in the PC Lab only!
